We met Zach in Court, following an application by his social landlord for possession of his property due to rent arrears.
Zach had been away from the property, whilst incarcerated, and since his release had no income. Zach had several ailments which prohibited him from working and a very tenuous grasp of English.
We established very quickly that the landlord had failed to follow the Pre-action Protocol for rent arrears. When challenged, the landlord agreed to an adjournment allowing Zach time to apply for the relevant benefits and to clear the arrear.
Thanks to the actions taken by Safer Housing, Zach still has a home.
