Harriet Thomas
Director of Safer Housing
Harriet is a consultant solicitor specialising in Landlord and Tenant Law. Qualifying in January 2009, Harriet deals with disputes in the areas of residential properties and social housing.
She has a wealth of experience with housing law cases, ranging from possession, eviction, disrepair, mortgage repossession, to antisocial behaviour, and homelessness.
Harriet is a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association, the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Legal Action Group.
She is an effective communicator who is both pragmatic and proactive in her approach when dealing with housing-related matters.
Harriet has a Post Graduate Diploma in Housing and Land Law and is currently pursuing a Masters in Housing Studies.
Harriet has been an Advice Services Manager and Organiser whilst volunteering with Crisis at Christmas for 8 years and has volunteered her services providing advice and representation at the Local County Courts with Greenwich Housing Rights for 7 years.
Harriet volunteered as an Advice Services Manager and Organiser with Crisis at Christmas for 8 years, and is currently working with Greenwich Housing Rights to deliver the on duty advice and advocacy services in Bromley County Court and Belmarsh Crown Court.
During the official lockdown period, Harriet worked for Brixton Advice Centre as the Developer and Supervisor of a brand new online legal clinic initiative. Following the lockdown the online service was almost seamlessly initiated ensuring that the public continued to receive quality advice.
In her free time, Harriet is a Governor of an independent school and actively supports her local community.
